Sarah Jane Scaife

Director

Artistic Director of Company SJ, researches and directs the work of Samuel Beckett both nationally and internationally. She has conducted two main research projects: Beckett in Asia (2002—2006) and Beckett in the City (2009—2016) which set out to place side-by-side the socio-historic wounds of Ireland’s past with the current social tensions within the city itself, utilising the writing of Samuel Beckett in interaction with the social and architectural spaces of Dublin. In 2018 she presented Samuel Beckett’s prose piece, Company, for the Dublin Theatre Festival. She is also Assistant Professor of Drama, Trinity College Dublin.


Ger Clancy

Sculptor and Designer

Ger Clancy is the creative director of ArtFX, an art studio based in Wicklow, Ireland. With over 20 years’ experience in the arts, he works as a designer, artist and educator. Ger is actively involved in Theatre, Film, Spectacle and Visual Arts. He is programme chair of the Design for Film course in IADT, Dun Laoghaire and has lectured there since 2003. Ger is a determined, creative explorer who enjoys the challenge of creating new work. Always striving to achieve superior innovative solutions, he is keen to ensure that his designs and artwork leave a lasting impression on audiences.


Joan Davis

Actress

Joan Davis has lived her whole life in Ireland, where she has pioneered innovative dance practice since 1976. Her dance, collaborative, multidimensional arts practices and performances have been consistently funded by the Irish Arts Council. From 2012–2015 Joan pioneered the work Origins, a fully accredited Somatic training, bringing together all her years of movement, dance, therapy and arts practice. She lives in Bray, Co. Wicklow and has three children and four grandchildren. 



Raymond Keane

Actor

Raymond Keane is an actor, director, theatre maker and teacher. He was a founding member of the multi-award winning Barabbas Theatre Company. Raymond first worked with Sarah Jane Scaife back in 1991—92 under the company name of ‘Throwin Shapes’ exploring the works of W.B. Yeats and Samuel Beckett. Since the formation of Company SJ he has performed in Beckett in the City: Act Without Words & Rough for Theatre One, Fizzles and Company. These works have and will continue to tour nationally and internationally from Dublin, Cork, London, New York, Paris, Tokyo and beyond. Other recent performances include Ulysses at The Abbey Theatre and The Taming of the Shrew at The Globe Theatre.


Sinead Cuthbert 

Costume and Prop Design

Sinead Cuthbert has worked with many theatre companies over the years including Rough Magic, Cois Ceim, Performance coroporation, Landmark, Oroboros, Hotfortheatre, recent credits: Dublin By Lamplight (Corn Exchange); The Remains of Maisie Duggan (Peacock Theatre); The Bloody Irish (Greenore) Beckett in the city: The Women Speak (Company SJ); Borstal Boy (Gaiety and Verdant); Sinead Costumed RTE’s commemoration concert ‘Centenary’ 2016 and is currently teaching costume design in the Department of Drama, Trinity College Dublin.


Sarah Jane Shiels

Lighting Design

Sarah Jane Shiels began designing lighting in Dublin Youth Theatre, completing a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies at Trinity College Dublin, and the Rough Magic Seeds3 programme 2006—2008. From 2010—2017, she was co-artistic director of WillFredd Theatre. Recent lighting designs include Afterlove (Galway Dance Project, Galway Arts Festival); The City is Never Finished (Kilkenny Arts Festival); I Walked into my Head (Kilkenny Arts Festival); One Good Turn (Abbey Theatre); Day Crossing Farm (Cork Midsummers Festival); Woman in the Machine (Carlow Arts Festival); Party Scene (This is Pop Baby); What Did I Miss? (The Ark); Sruth na Teanga (Branar Téatar do Pháistí); Hansel and Gretel (Irish National Opera, Theatre Lovett, Abbey Theatre); A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings (Collapsing Horse).



Kilian Waters

Video Design

Kilian Waters is an award-winning filmmaker and video designer. He originally trained in video and film production but has been designing video for theatre for over a decade. He has worked with many of Ireland’s leading theatre companies including Company SJ, Broken Talkers, Junk Ensemble, ANU, The Abbey Theatre, The Gate, Outlandish Theatre, Talking Shop, Willfredd Theatre, Upstate Theatre, CoisCeim and Theatreclub. Cinematic work includes: Falling out of Standing (CoisCeim and ANU); The Far Side (Upstate Theatre); Mechanic (winner best short Galway Film Fleadh 2013); Come Into The Gardens (Outlandish Theatre-JDIFF official selection 2014); Abacus (Brokentalkers). His video art work includes collaborative and joint installations in Tate Liverpool, Hugh Lane Dublin, Visual Carlow, 14 Henrietta Street and Draíocht Arts Centre. His work has toured extensively and featured on stages and screens around the world.


Tim Scott 

Sound Design

Tim Scott originally from the UK, Tim worked on a number of musicals (West Side Story, Billy Elliot, We Will Rock You), before transitioning into Producing (Darkness Within, Nychthemeron). Most recently, Tim adapted and produced At Swim, Two Boys (2016) from the book by Jamie O’Neill. In addition to Producing for Company SJ, Tim is currently Theatre Manager at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, Trinity College Dublin, where he also teaches Producing in the Department of Drama.
